HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm Review: A Titanium Command Center on Your Wrist

The smartwatch market has never been more competitive. This in-depth review of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm examines how this advanced new device from the Chinese manufacturer distinguishes itself from Wear OS-powered smartwatches. Is it a device worth recommending? Let’s dive in.

Unboxing the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm

The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm arrives in an elegant and compact box, packed with thoughtful extras. Upon opening, you’re greeted by the attractively displayed smartwatch, which comes with a titanium bracelet pre-installed.

Below the main compartment, two separate pockets hold additional items. One contains a charger with a USB-C tip and extra bracelet segments. These segments can be added manually without special tools, requiring only basic manual dexterity to lengthen or shorten the bracelet. The other pocket houses the user manual and a fluoroelastomer strap. This material is hypoallergenic, offering a comfortable alternative for everyday wear.

Design and Build Quality of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm

The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro is available in two versions. While this review focuses on the larger 46 mm Space Edition, it’s worth noting the smaller 43 mm model. The 43 mm variant features a construction almost entirely made of glossy ceramic, complemented by sapphire glass and elegant gold accents, making it an excellent choice for smaller wrists.

The 46 mm Space Edition, our test model, also utilizes sapphire glass for the display. The casing and bracelet are crafted from aerospace-grade titanium, while the rear panel, housing the sensors, is made of ceramic. This combination places the watch in the top tier for build quality. The Space Edition’s bezel is dual-colored, with striking gold-copper details that effectively break up the dark grey mass. The default smartwatch face further extends this unique design language.

A subtle “HUAWEI WATCH” engraving can be found along the upper edge. The case is mostly matte, which effectively conceals fingerprints, giving the device a consistently clean and appealing look.

On the left side, a loud speaker is discreetly placed. The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm allows you to answer calls directly from your smartphone. Thanks to eSIM technology, the watch supports independent calling, messaging, and online application use without needing a constant connection to your smartphone.

The right side features a rotating crown, which doubles as a button to activate the app menu and return to the main watch face. An additional customizable button is located near the bottom edge. Between these buttons, you’ll find the X-TAP module, designed for measuring key health parameters.

The internal ceramic cover on the back prominently displays certification marks and another set of sensors. Notably, the quick-release buttons on the bracelet and strap allow for easy and swift interchangeability.

At 60 grams (without the strap), the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm is a substantial watch. However, it proved surprisingly comfortable. Despite typically wearing smaller devices (around 41 mm), adapting to this larger model was effortless. The watch boasts high-level water resistance ratings of IP69 and 5 ATM, allowing for diving up to 40 meters.

Display of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm

The 46 mm version of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro features a spacious 1.5-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel. The display operates at a sharp resolution of 466 × 466 pixels, yielding a pixel density of 330 PPI. These specifications translate to a top-tier visual experience. Blacks are deep, colors are vibrant, and wide viewing angles ensure you can check the time without needing to bring your wrist closer to your face—a truly flagship display.

The panel is protected by flat sapphire glass, effectively eliminating annoying reflections. With a maximum brightness of 3500 nits, readability in bright daylight, even under intense October sun, is excellent. During bike rides, I had no difficulty reading my training parameters. The minimum brightness is equally impressive, making it comfortable to check the time in the middle of the night.

Software and Application

Huawei Health App

The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm runs on the proprietary HarmonyOS 7.0, which, while having certain limitations, also offers numerous advantages. A significant benefit is its broad compatibility: the watch can be paired with HUAWEI phones, other Android devices, and iPhones. All its functionalities are managed through a single application: the Huawei Health app.

It’s important to note that the Huawei Health app may not be available on platforms like the Google Play Store, requiring users to download it directly from Huawei’s official website. However, once installed, this single app streamlines all functions, and the pairing process is quick and straightforward. For other great fitness tracking options from Huawei, check out our review of the Huawei Band 10 at an attractive price.

One of the device’s most touted features is its ability to pair with two smartphones simultaneously. While this functionality was previously seen on devices like the OnePlus Watch Lite, it was not yet available at the time of this review’s publication.

The Huawei Health app is well-designed, making it easy to find desired functions. The main screen is dedicated to health, featuring exercise and relaxation cloverleaf or activity rings. Below these are shortcuts to various functions and useful panels displaying specific health metrics.

Each tile in the app is interactive, allowing users to tap for a more detailed view of selected parameters, graphs, or activities. A recurring annoyance, however, is the presence of promotional content; during most of my testing, one tile consistently displayed ads for products like the HUAWEI Band 11.

Further down, a section is dedicated to parameter analysis and trends, which I found to be one of the app’s strongest features. The software uses AI to process a wealth of data and present it in a highly accessible format, quickly informing users about changes in their body or habits.

The next tab is for exercises, where you can select a training plan or simply activate sports tracking. Following this is the VIP tab, offering premium features for paid subscribers, such as intelligent training plans, sleep music, and diet analysis. While numerous options are available, many users might find them unnecessary.

The device settings section provides ample customization. Beyond personalizing your watch (e.g., with watch faces), you can transfer music to the device’s internal storage or browse apps. While the AppGallery allows for app installation, its selection is limited compared to the extensive libraries available on Wear OS and watchOS platforms. Contactless payments are supported, but they require the use of Curve Pay.

HarmonyOS 7.0

Visually, the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm with HarmonyOS 7.0 is comparable to Wear OS devices. The interface is thoughtfully designed, with aesthetic and fluid animations. Interactions primarily rely on touch, but lists can be scrolled using the rotating crown, and the device also supports useful gestures.

Swiping down reveals a quick-access panel for essential settings, while notifications accumulate at the bottom. Messages can be replied to using pre-set responses or a full keyboard. However, I noticed a lack of deeper smartphone interactivity compared to Wear OS; for instance, on the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm, you can only dismiss an email notification, whereas a Google Pixel Watch allows you to archive a message with a single tap. For a look at how other premium smartwatches are performing with updates, check out our coverage on the Samsung Galaxy Watch6 Classic February Security Update 2024.

To the left of the main watch face, you’ll find customizable widgets. To the right, themed mini-applications offer a similar experience to the Pixel Watch. Each element within these mini-apps is interactive, which I find to be a highly practical solution.

A new, more advanced quick measurement system called X-TAP is integrated. Relocating some sensors to the side of the watch is a brilliant idea. In practice, however, I often encountered issues with the initial cardiovascular system test, which utilizes these side sensors. Even when a measurement was completed, the results were frequently deemed “inconclusive.”

This inconsistency might be due to an early software version, but for me, X-TAP often fell short of expectations. When all measurements did succeed, though, I was very satisfied with the aesthetically pleasing and clear presentation of the results.

The smartwatch automatically detects sleep, and it handles naps significantly better than the Google Pixel Watch. While I generally didn’t activate the dedicated sleep mode (which simplifies the watch face) during the review period, there were two instances where the device failed to register my nighttime sleep. To ensure accurate sleep analysis with the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm, it’s advisable to activate the dedicated sleep tracking mode.

Sports Features

The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm supports a vast array of sports modes, including options for golf, diving, and even triathlon. While manufacturers often prioritize popular activities like running, I particularly appreciate that Huawei has refined its cycling mode, as it’s the sport I engage in most frequently.

Before starting an activity, you can select your bicycle type. During the ride, virtual power measurement and virtual cadence provide interesting data. The watch faces dedicated to activities are high-contrast and easy to read. Results are presented in well-described charts. Having covered over 200 km with the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm, I can confidently say it’s the best sports watch I tested in 2026.

Battery Life and Charging of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm

The manufacturer’s product page does not disclose the exact capacity of the built-in battery. However, one distributor reports it as 867 mAh, which is an impressive figure for this segment of devices. HUAWEI does, however, provide expected battery life figures. With the Always-On Display (AOD) enabled, you can expect up to 3 days of use. Disabling AOD extends the battery life by an additional 1.5 days. In maximum power-saving mode, users should achieve up to 11 days of operation.

In practice, my observations aligned with these declared values. I primarily used the AOD feature and charged the device every three days when it reached approximately 20% battery. Before a trip to the Paris Motor Show in 2026, I disabled AOD, and by the fourth day, the device still had 24% battery. This indicates a decent battery life, and I didn’t even utilize the dedicated power-saving modes. It’s worth noting that other HUAWEI devices from the GT and Ultimate series have accustomed users to even longer battery performance.

Official specifications did not detail charging times. After 15 minutes on the charger, the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm recovered 29% of its battery. While this might not seem as rapid as the approximately 70% recovery in 15 minutes achieved by the Google Pixel Watch 5 41 mm, this amount of power is sufficient for a full day of use.

During testing, I placed the watch on the charger at 15% battery, reaching 50% in exactly 20 minutes. A full charge took 48 minutes. This means the device charges significantly faster than the Samsung Galaxy Watch 9, despite the latter having a smaller battery capacity.

Technical Specifications and Price of the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm

Both the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm and the 43 mm version launched at a price point equivalent to approximately $700 USD. During an initial promotional period, the price was reduced to about $625 USD. While not inexpensive, this price offers a substantial package of features and premium build quality.

HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm Review: Summary and Our Opinion

The HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm stands out as one of the best smartwatches available today. Its build quality is phenomenal, compatibility is impressive, and the screen performs exceptionally well in all conditions. The software is highly refined, and the numerous, well-developed sports modes are a significant asset. While its battery life doesn’t quite match the extended durations seen in other HUAWEI devices like the GT and Ultimate series, it comfortably surpasses that of most Wear OS and watchOS devices.

The promised ability to pair with two smartphones simultaneously is a compelling feature, though it couldn’t be tested at the time of this review. The Huawei Health app, despite requiring direct download for Android users, is functionally very positive. The X-TAP measurements are excellent when successful, but their consistency during my testing left something to be desired. Another limitation is the relatively smaller ecosystem of compatible applications compared to smartwatches running Google’s Wear OS or Apple’s watchOS, which offer a much broader library.

After nearly a month with the HUAWEI WATCH 6 Pro 46 mm, I believe it’s a fantastic device with only minor drawbacks. If you’re looking for a robust smartwatch with decent battery life and broad compatibility, it’s hard to find a better choice. However, if deep integration with the Android ecosystem is your top priority, offerings from Google and Samsung might be more suitable.
